Dr. Halkias is a native of Naperville and is a graduate of Naperville Central High School. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry, and a Bachelor’s degree in Cell and Structural Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. He was awarded the following honors at graduation: “Outstanding Compassion in Patient Care” and “Student Leadership Within Organized Optometry.”

Dr. Halkias has received optometric training at Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, AZ, where he provided primary eye care to veterans. He also was trained at Aran Eye Associates in Miami, FL, specializing in ocular diseases. He participated in Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) and completed a weeklong missionary trip to Zihuatanejo, Mexico, spending his time providing free eye care to the poor.

Dr. Halkias accompanied "Mobile Medical Mission Hospital" in May 2011 and traveled to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where he treated indigent patients with advanced glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye diseases for nine days.

Dr. Halkias lives in Hinsdale, with his wife and 3 children. He enjoys golfing, traveling, spending time with his family, and supporting Chicago sports teams.

  • American Optometric Association (AOA)
  • Illinois Optometric Association (IOA)

Dr. Halkias maintains office hours in Naperville and Downers Grove.
